RCA Advanced Culinary Workshop for Food Technologists

Due to overwhelming student requests, the Research Chefs Association (RCA) and the CIA have joined forces to develop a workshop for food technologists on the advanced fundamentals of culinary arts. RCA specialists and CIA chef instructors will guide you through five days of in-depth hands-on training.


The CIA at Greystone Hosts A Mediterranean Flavor Odyssey
The Culinary Institute of America at Greystone held its 11th Annual Worlds of Flavor® International Conference & Festival, A Mediterranean Flavor Odyssey: Preserving and Reinventing Traditions for Modern Palates in November. More than 700 people from around the world gathered for the three-day conference at the college's West Coast campus in California's Napa Valley.

1997 CIA Graduate Awarded USPCA’s Personal Chef
Personal Chef Wendy Gauthier '97, owner and operator of Chef Chic Personal Chef  Service in Tucson, Arizona has been awarded Personal Chef Of The Year by theUnited States Personal Chef Association (USPCA). The award was presented during the 2008 USPCA national conference for personal chefs, conducted inTucson, Arizona this August.

CIA Dooley Lecture Series
Raj Patel
EcoLab Theater 2:30 – 4:00 PM

Raj Patel is a writer, academic, journalist and activist. He has a PhD from Cornell University and is currently a scholar in residence at University of California, Berkeley. He has worked at the World Bank, the United Nations and the World Trade Organization. He is the author of several scholarly articles, his first book is Stuffed and Starved: the Hidden Battle for the World Food System (Melville 2007). He has been a frequent contributor to the BBC, NBC, Al Jazeera, and NPR. In 2008 he testified on the global food crisis before the US House of Representatives Financial Services Committee.

Paul Virant ’94 has been named one of the 2007 America’s Top Ten Best New Chefs by Food & Wine magazine.

Wine & Spirits Magazine Taps Zisovski
When Wine & Spirits magazine finished tallying the votes of more than 230 wine professionals from America’s top restaurants, Hristo Zisovki ’00 found himself on the list of this year’s Best New Sommeliers.
